About Us

Welcome to Sharon Mennonite Church!

The Sharon Conservative Mennonite Church, a Biblically based Anabaptist congregation that is a part of the Biblical Mennonite Alliance (BMA), welcomes you to join them on Sunday mornings for a time of spiritual refreshment, encouragement and fellowship.

Our History

The first service of the Sharon Conservative Mennonite Church was held in the Lutheran Church in the small town of Ragersville, Ohio on March 7, 1954 as an outreach from the Pleasant View Mennonite Church near Berlin, Ohio. On July 22, 1956 the group attending at Ragersville decided on the name “Sharon” for their congregation. The Lutheran Church was only available for three Sunday’s out of each month, so in order to have a more permanent place of worship, on June 22, 1957 the Meadow Valley School located three miles east of Sugarcreek was purchased. The growth of the congregation, and because  it was not feasible to build onto the Meadow Valley School, it was decided to purchase a two acre tract of land along Cherry Ridge Road near Sugarcreek, and plans for a new building were drawn up in 1963.  As the congregation continued to grow, they decided to add a new auditorium to the original  building.in 1977.  The first service in the new auditorium was held on January 8, 1978.. Continued growth presented the need for a facility to accommodate wedding receptions and recreational activities as well as the need to enlarge the chapel area.  This addition was completed in June of 2000. We as a congregation are grateful to God for His continued direction and blessing.
